Where Dreams Take Flight

As part of the museum’s 35th anniversary celebration, we are proudly launching this education capital campaign, a transformative initiative to create a dynamic new Education Wing designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and innovation in learners of all ages.

The new Education Wing will feature three immersive learning environments:

First Flight Hangar

Opening This Spring - Designed for children ages toddler to five, this early learning space introduces the wonder of aviation through imaginative, hands-on play. Young learners can explore a custom control tower play set and engage in role-playing experiences through the Tech Tykes by WSU Tech Dress Area, sparking early interest in aviation careers.

Runway to Innovation Powered by Bombardier

Opening September 2026 - A cutting-edge, interactive zone where students can explore aviation through hands-on design and technology. Highlights include:

  • Flight simulation experiences in custom-built cockpit
  • A creative build space featuring Chompsaw activities
  • Interactive touchscreen games like Design Your Airplane and Check Your Weight, teaching essential concepts such as aerodynamics and aircraft weight and balance

Launch Point Powered by the Roth Family Foundation

Opening 2027 - Serving as the heart of the Education Wing, this flexible classroom and lab space will host STEAM camps, field trips, and maker-based learning experiences, becoming KAM’s primary hub for educational programming.

Through this initiative, the Kansas Aviation Museum aims to create an inspiring environment where history meets innovation—fueling a passion for learning and opening doors to future careers in aviation and beyond.

The “Where Dreams Take Flight” campaign has already secured 65% of its fundraising goal, demonstrating strong early momentum and community investment. Lead support from Bombardier and the Roth Family Foundation has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life, with additional opportunities available for individuals and organizations to contribute to the campaign’s success.
