Cessna 336 "Skymaster"
The Cessna 336 “Skymaster” was the first airplane to use a pusher-puller design. Most planes have either engines on the front that pull the plane forward or engines on the back that push. Cessna engineers, concerned with the loss of control that occurs when engines fail on one side, used both types of propulsion for the 336. This unique configuration is much safer in the event of engine failure, but comes with slower speeds. To accommodate the pusher propeller, the Skymaster has a high mounted twin-boom that makes the plane very recognizable.
