Kansas Aviation Museum:
A Venue

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life. Make it memorable by choosing the right venue – an historic building with the perfect amenities. The museum is housed in Wichita’s first municipal airport terminal, a building now on the national Register of Historic Places.

Not all venues are equal; for example, not all venues provide tables and chairs. Your rental fee at KAM will always include tables and chairs, set up, tear down, and trash removal. Three hours of decorating time is also included in all rental fees. KAM has a dedicated Event Coordinator who will work with you before your big day to determine a layout so that set up will be done before you come in to decorate. This person will also work directly with vendors to ensure efficient delivery of items on your special day.

Everyone is different and has different needs. The Kansas Aviation Museum has everything from a conference room that rents for $100 for 2 hours during the week to a $4,500 package that allows private access to the museum and rent the entire building for a day (closed to the public).

The conference room will hold just under 50 people seated at round tables (more theater or classroom style). The main atrium will hold up to 290 seated. The total number of people KAM can host if the full facility and outdoor areas are reserved is a total of 480.

We also offer the option of having outdoor ceremonies and even opening a large plane for an additional cost.

  • Decorating access 3 hours prior to event, on the day of the event

  • Children’s activity center open during your event (does not include child care)
  • Open catering policy, catering license required
  • Consultation with museum event planning staff
  • Reasonable break-down time at no additional charge

 Additional Optional Services:

  • $250/hr early closure up to 3:00 p.m. for event (before 3:00 p.m. requires full day closure rate)
  • $200/hr each additional atrium hour (2 hour limit – only after regular business hours)
  • $100/hr each additional conference room hour (2 hour limit)
  • $75/hr for extra set up time (3 hour limit)
  • $100.00/staff member for childcare, 5-14 years old, during event (number of staff required depends on how many children are to be supervised)
  • Note: Quinceanera’s and very large events that will have a large amount of children are required to hire museum staff to monitor Learning Hanger (children’s area)

  • Atrium: 220 people with a dance floor, 240 people without a dance floor
  • Third Floor Rotunda: 50 people with room for banquet tables
  • Lawn: 300 people
  • “On A Plane”: 20-30 people without tables
