Robert “Bob” Hagan

1999
Governor’s Aviation Honor Award

Hagan began his distinguished flying career as an 18-year-old cadet in 1943. He earned the Flying Cross, the Air Medal, and the Purple Heart, before he retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Major, in 1953.  That year, he was the first test pilot for Cessna’s T-37 jet trainer aircraft. He also flight-tested model 310 and model 411 as well as the Learjet Mode 23.  His 24-year stint as Beech Aircraft Corporation’s Chief of Flight Engineering included first flights of the Baron 56TC, Queen Air A88, King Air 200, and 1300. As a test pilot for Wichita’s three largest general aviation companies over five decades, he left behind a legacy that impacted both civil and military aviation.
