Rick Hamlin is an aircraft restoration artisan and an aviation community advocate. Hamlin was influential in convincing the Wellington School Board to offer a high school course introducing students to aviation. He worked to secure investment form the City of Wellington, the state of Kansas, and the Federal Aviation Administration for the renovation of the airport. He served on the Wellington Airport Board and, as the President of the Kansas Commission on Aerospace Education. He volunteered to coordinate the first stop of the reinvigorated ALL Kansas Air Tour in Wellington as the Community Hero. He volunteered as the Pathfinder for the Kansas Air Tour in 2008. He served on the Kansas Aviation Advisory Committee. He convinced the City of Wellington to provide the first listening stop for the Kansas Aviation Economic Impact Study – a study he helped guide.
