Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame

Herb immigrated to the United States from Austria in 1974 to pursue his passion for aviation. He earned his pilot’s license at Security Aviation in Hawthorne, CA. In 1978, Herb settled in Wichita, Kansas as a design engineer and part-time flight instructor at Cessna, where he helped colleagues to obtain their multi-engine ratings in his 1958 Piper Apache. Herb obtained his ATP certificate while flying Part 135 at Midwest Piper at Comotara airport in 1979. In 1986, Herb began working full-time at Prairie Air Service, a company that specialized in advanced flight instruction. Herb accumulated over 34,000 hours of flight instruction experience and made a lasting impact on his 2,500+ students. Prairie Air Service  attracted aspiring pilots from over 50 countries to Wichita, in part because of Herb’s commitment to personalized, in-depth flight training experiences. This earned him a network of loyal  enthusiastic advocates for his flight school.
