Beechcraft Model 18

The Beechcraft Model 18 was a twin engine plane that was in production from 1937 to 1969. With over 9,000 Model 18s produced over 32 years, these planes were put use in countless different military and civilian operations. The plane here at the Kansas Aviation Museum was used by the Army Air Corps, who referred to the model with the designation C-45. This C-45 was flown by the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), a group of female pilots that flew in noncombat roles in WWII. The nose art depicts Fifinella, a WASP logo designed by Disney for an unreleased movie called “Gremlins” based on a Roald Dahl book.
