The Cessna 500 Citation was the first in Cessna’s line of private jets. After the success of Learjet in the luxury jet market, the other major aircraft manufacturers scrambled to come up with a similar product. The FAA certified the Citation in 1971, beginning the Citation family of models, which is the largest business jet fleet today. The Citation here at the Kansas Aviation Museum is one of the earliest models, and bears the serial number 2.
