Daniel Meisinger

1996
Governor’s Aviation Honor Award

Meisinger established a flight training school at Topeka Billard Airport in 1938. The need for pilots skyrocketed during World War II, and by the end of the war, Meisinger had trained several thousand pilots. Following the war, he became one of the first Beech Aircraft dealers and combined aircraft sales with flight training. He expanded his activities into a fixed-base operation providing fuel and maintenance. Over the next 60 years, Meisinger’s operation expanded to Topeka, Kansas City, Olathe, and St. Louis, and was recognized as one of the premier fixed-base operator in the Midwest.
