Reynolds flew for the Air Force in the Vietnam War. After joining Learjet, Inc., in 1973, as an avionics and production test pilot, he filled several positions until his promotion to Chief of Engineering Flight Test in 1979. That year, Reynolds and former Apollo astronaut, Neil Armstrong, established the business jet time-to-climb speed record in a Learjet Model 28. Reynolds oversaw the 51,000 feet certification of Learjet Models 24 and 25, and first flights on the 24E, 28, 55C, 31, and Gulfstream IV models. During his career in aviation, Pete Reynolds received numerous awards for this accomplishment in flight test, wrote many technical papers and general aviation articles, holds the patent for the Boundary Layer Energizers, and was a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
