Colvin’s monthly maintenance articles in the American Bonanza Society’s national magazine were known as “Colvin’s Clinic.” Well-known in aircraft circles for his “little black notebook” filled with mechanical information on the Bonanza, pilots relied on Colvin’s wealth of experience and knowledge to assist them in keeping their aircraft in top condition. He traveled internationally, conducting safety inspection clinics, speaking at workshop seminars and has been recognized by several aviation organizations for his outstanding contributions. The American Bonanza Society headquarters building, located on Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport, has been named the J. Norman Colvin Building, in honor of his years of dedicated service.
