The Museum will close at 4 pm today for a private event.
The Kansas Aviation Museum is open from 9am to 3pm Tuesday through Friday and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Come out and visit the historic aircraft on display, learn about our state’s aviation history, and visit the historic control tower, one of the first in the United States.
Come out to the Museum for coffee and a presentation about our special Kansas weather by Jamie Travers, KSN meteorologist. Learn more about why Kansas has a reputation for some unusual weather that can change in a few minutes. The program is free to attend in the Museum’s conference room. If you want to tour the Museum while you are here, regular admission applies.
The Downtown Diversity Jam is a KAM sponsored event that focuses on the diversity of music in the ICT, everything from jazz to hip hop and from country to opera: you’ll hear it all! The event is in Old Town Plaza, just outside the Museum of World Treasures. The event is free and open to the public. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music.
The KAM currently maintains approximately ten, exhibit ready planes in its artifact storage area. This event is an opportunity for the Wichita community to view these planes for a one day event that will highlight some one-of-a-kind planes like the Allied, Pretty Prairie Special and the Navy Stearman.
For years legends have arisen of ghosts that inhabit the historic Wichita Air Terminal and now Kansas Aviation Museum. Are they true? Executive Director Lon Smith will share his personal story of unusual happenings in and around the terminal building.
The Kansas Aviation Museum is now 25 years old and has advanced further in its development than anyone could have imagined. This is an opportunity to celebrate our aviation museum in the Air Capital World and do so in the actual Wichita Air Terminal and now Kansas Aviation Museum that makes this institution unique.
