“The Air Capital City in the Modern World Part B – How Wichita Exploded into Global Importance”

Wichita Aviation Centennial Chairman Richard Harris will be presenting a dramatic slide show which tells the amazing story of how Wichita became the “Air Capital City”. He will explain how Wichita exploded into global importance by building American air power in World War II, the Cold War, and producing many of the world’s most important airliners. Mr. Harris will show how this effort spread general aviation worldwide, while setting world records.
Richard Harris is a aviation industry reporter and historian.


No Event Admission Charge: Regular admission applies to view Museum prior to and/or following event. Coffee is provided during lecture free of charge.

Sunday, May 14th – Mother’s Day & Picnic Under the Wings

Mothers get in FREE with paid child admission. Enjoy this special day by bringing out a picnic lunch and spread a blanket out under the wing of an airplane. Food not provided, so make the day memorable and the food delicious!

Sunday, May 21st – Just Plane Fun – Sponsored by Skyward Credit Union

All the planes on the ramp will be open with tour guides to explain the history of each plane. We will have two additional planes taken from storage for this one day event. Family fun includes outside yard games, inside crafts, and flight simulators in our Learning Center.

Saturday, August 12th – 2nd Annual Ghost Planes of KAM

A rare view of 12+ planes will be brought out of storage for a one day event. These are beautiful planes that have been restored by our fantastic team of volunteers. These planes are only available for one day so do not miss this.
